Sharon Fay VanTrease-Garcia May 12, 1961 – December 28, 2020 Sharon Fay VanTrease Garcia passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 after a brief illness. Sharon was born May 12, 1961 in Kansas City, Kansas to Vivian Sue Macon VanTrease and William Willard Verlan VanTrease. She moved with her family to Fernley, NV where she graduated from high school and attended the local community college. Sharon loved collecting dolls, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Her travels took her numerous times to destinations across the US including Lake Tahoe, California, Oklahoma, Texas and further away to tropical locations in Hawaii and southern Mexico. Sharon was known for her upbeat, happy personality and laughter as well as her generosity and a birthday, anniversary or holiday never went by that Sharon didn’t send cards, jokes, pictures and token gifts to celebrate those she loved. She married Alberto Garcia on December 15, 1983 and they made their home in Carson City, NV where they had two daughters, Melissa Sue Garcia and Amanda Rose Garcia. Sharon is survived by her husband of 37 years, Alberto Garcia; her daughters Melissa Sue Garcia of Carson City, NV and Amanda Rose Garcia of Lawrence, KS; four grandchildren and five siblings: James Lee and wife Yolanda Schoenberger of Blue Spring, MO, Theresa Sue VanTrease of Shawnee, OK, Vanessa Kay VanTrease of Newalla, OK, Christina Lee VanTrease Vaughn of Reno, NV and Bobbie Sue Dodd of Reno, NV. She is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Sharon previously lost both of her parents and brother Phillip Ray VanTrease. A memorial will be held next summer after the epidemic bans are lifted. Condolences may be sent to Autumn Funeral Home, 1575 N. Lompa Lane, Carson, City, NV 89701.
