February 13, 1936 - January 12, 2012
James D. “Jim” Dutcher, left this world on January 12, 2012 following an extended illness. He was born February 13, 1936 in San Bernardino, CA, the only child of Raymond and Eva Dutcher. During his two years at San Bernardino Senior High School he was a leader in the Koinonis Bible Club and in the Campus Crusade. He completed his high school education studying for Christian service at Bob Jones Academy and College in Greenville, SC in 1953, and later attended Bob Jones University where he studied cinematography and worked in the school print-shop. It was while attending college he met Coleen Hamilton, and the two were married in 1955 in Beaumont, CA. The marriage lasted ten years and produced his four children. For over 40 years Jim worked throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Santa Barbara, and San Diego counties; in the printing, photography, and graphic arts field; as cameraman, stripper, salesman, installer, and teacher. In 1971 Jim married Sandra Wadsworth, and together they built and managed the full-service print-shop of J&S Graphix in Santa Barbara, CA, where they lived until Sandi’s death in 1998. Jim was a resident of La Mesa, CA for several years where he continued to work and became a member of the Shadow Mountain Community Church before retiring to Carson City to be nearer his family. During his final years, Jim was blessed in Carson City to meet Valerie Boice, and the two were married in 2006. Ever patient throughout his failing health, Valerie was at Jim’s side when “the presses stopped”. Jim enjoyed boating, photography, scuba diving, hunting, golf, and fishing. He is survived by his wife Valerie Boice of Carson City; daughter Lisa (Eldon) Molt of Jerome, ID; sons Dean (Sandy) Dutcher of Everett, WA, Scott (Karon) Dutcher of Carson City, and Randy (Jo) Rader of Ocean Shores, WA; step-son Michael Mandeville of Yuba City, CA; and grandchildren Jason, Jon, Sean, Heather, Dakota, Dustin, Stephanie, and Eric Lee; and five great-grandchildren.
